The bloody episode in Port Said, Egypt following Wednesday’s soccer match reminded us of the word and concept of Ultras. The Ultras are the most fanatic of fans, and they’re all over the world. There are Ultras in Serbia, in Argentina. Some have political ties. Other Ultra groups have commercial ties. The first groups of Ultras began in Brazil in the 1930s, supporting soccer teams there.

Today, I spoke with James Dorsey who is one of the top experts on the connections between soccer and mideast politics.
